XTP-3 is primarily designed for the protection of heavy
transformers against overheating. However, it may be
used for protecting large motors and generators as well.
It is utilized in conjunction with a semiconductor-based
thermal sensor, which is placed at a strategic spot in the
equipment to detect sustained operating temperatures
above normal.
The rugged sheet metal body allows for its mounting in
panels next to the transformers.
